CPC Map Contest Live

The life of a map maker is a hard one at best. Much time invested, little credit rewarded! Think of the thousands of maps that come and go without an eyebrow raised within the competitive community, here at Crossfire we hope to change that.

With the upcoming Crossfire Lan 2 scheduled for April 13/14/15, we decided to host a map competition for both ET & CoD2, with the winning maps included in the 6 map pool at the lan finals and the winning map designers taking home over 100 euros worth of SteelSeries products.

The deadline passed last Sunday March 11 and we got a phenomenal response. In total Crossfire received 6 maps for Enemy Territory and 1 for Call of Duty. Please remember these maps are still in the early stages of development due to the short timescale available - all feedback is appreciated.

They are:

Enemy Territoy

Bremen_b1 - Map Overview
Field_hq_b2
Odenthal_b2 - Map Overview (Note - the tank will have a purpose past the wall in _b3)
Sub_base
Wolken1_cpc - Map Overview
Vio_grail_b3 - Map Overview

All of the maps are now being looped on the Crossfire server - 82.192.84.231:27930

Call of Duty

Due to only one entry there's no contest. Changes are currently being made after feedback from private testing. More information will be released shortly.

All this week intensive play testing will begin, with exhibitional matches running during the week and competing teams needing to test the maps. Each clan leader will vote for the winning map which will be announced next week on Wednesday 21 March.

Update - Viograil is also in the competition, TosspoT foolishly forgot to forward it. Really sorry to Violator for this

ClanBase EuroCup XV Announced

image: eurocup
Welcome to the most prestigious online tournament in Enemy Territory, EuroCup XV. Bigger and better than ever before, with even more coverage of games between Europe's top teams as they battle it out for ET's ultimate title, this is an event not to miss. Precise details of the size, format and schedule of the cup are still to be confirmed, but we can promise it will be a season you can't afford to miss. So buckle your seatbelts as we prepare for another few months of supreme Enemy Territory action in ET's seventh EuroCup season.

With the dominant force of Team Dignitas coming off a run of two straight EuroCup season titles, will anyone be able to challenge their dominance? Can they be defeated, or will they continue their unbeaten run for an unprecedented third straight EuroCup victory?

As always teams which sign up to 6v6 OpenCup Spring 2007 season are eligible for a EuroCup XV spot (teams can however choose not to be considered for a place in the prestigious EuroCup event if they wish). ClanBase EuroCup Grand Final

After much wrangling and rescheduling, ClanBase have confirmed the ClanBase Enemy Territory EuroCup XIV Grand Final will be played today (Sunday, 18th February) at 13:00* CET.

Meeting for the 4th time in the past two weeks, zP must once again try to overcome unsurpasable odds in facing an inform dignitas team. Though steadily improving, zeroPoint have yet to take a map from dignitas (in 6on6).

Prior to this sHg weekend many considered the loss of Butchji as a massive hinderance for zP, with their online game relying heavily on his aim. But in keran they've drafted in a more than capable replacement with many commenting on the apparant improved teamwork - with less reliance on their two big players. That isn't the only positive from the weekend for zP, rapture has finally found his form and gifty is playing a more disciplined game.

But for all their improvement, if yesterdays play is anything to go by they' fall well short of dignitas. Dignitas walked through the competition, easing their way to a third successive LAN title - continuing their run of not dropping a map in 2007. One to watch on Frostbite is Night, who seems to have mastered every trick shot possible.

Could it be fourth time lucky for zeroPoint?

NetRunners Warp Past The Finnish Line

Tonight sFx murso take on NetRunners in a winner takes all clash of the nations. Though awash with individual talent, most consider sFx as rank outsiders tonight. Though I envisage a much closer match than many are predicting, with a deciding map on the cards.

Over on ClanBase Belgium NightRaver caught up with two of tonight's competitors for their predictions, sFx Twidii and a not so confident NR Kot.

Quote by TwidiiWe're definately the underdogs for this game, not many people are expecting us to win, but we're definately gonna do our best to make it a nice game tonight. Since both teams have already used their best maps, we might see some very suprising maps tonight, so it's not that easy to prepare for this game. I'd think that we'll see a decider tonight, but can't really say who'll manage to take the decider home and win this game.

Quote by Kot In the current shape we are performing lately it will be an easy bash for Murso

You can find more predictions from community figures including former ET Sup Netherlands Cash & idle Germany urtier here.

The winner tonight will progress to take on either aMenti or cdap, still three wins away from a place in the Grand Final, whilst the loser can take consolation in the fact they're one of the few to have made it past the ClanBase EuroCup group stages.

Gifty Takes zeroPoint To WB Final

(Retrospectively once again [CB lost interest?]) Last night saw zeroPoint! become the first team to reach the Winners Bracket Final. They're now just two wins away from EuroCup glory, a title they intend on winning.

The match itself was relativly even with neither team dominating, it was only decided by a monumental mistake from the cdap team on supply. They'd previously rode their luck when zP held them for over 4 minutes on the tank stage of goldrush, yet collapsed during their courtyard defence allowing cdap to change what could've been a disastrous time, to about average [8:59]. This took the match onto a decider.

Here's an extract from match admin Austria n3co's report.

QuoteWith 1:30 to go they got the west radar parts and it seemed almost certain they would secure it, but gifty sprang out with an impressive tripple grenade kill and saved the ass of zeroPoint. One minute was on the clock and Xylos made another snatch but was easily cut down. There was time for one final grab, as kris got it with just thirty seconds remaining - but butchji, potter, and Darky where at main and they took down all 6 cdap teamates. So zP won this very exciting map!

You can read the rest of that report on ClanBase.

NetRunners, zeroPoint Progress To Semis

Tonight, Sunday 14th January was dubbed "A Night To Remember" by ClanBase supervisor Belgium NightRaver. As two intense clashes left GBooky addicts near bankrupt. The first match of the night saw Rewind take an unconvincing zeroPoint all the way to three maps, whilst NetRunners pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the season over pre-tourmaent favourites team helix. Meaning both NetRunners and zeroPoint progress to the semi finals to face idle and cdap respectivly.

Upper Bracket Semi Finals:
Europe zeroPoint vs. Europe cdap pi
Estonia idle.ee vs. Poland NetRunners

Lower Bracket Round 1
Germany rewind vs. Finland sFx murso
Europe aMenti vs. Germany helix

Both helix and aMenti where touted by many as possible pre-tournament favourites, but this draw means we'll lose one of them at the first possible stage.
