Belgium vs Czech Republic

Tonight sees the second ClanBase NationsCup X Quarter Final matchup between Belgium and Czech Republic. Fresh from last Sunday's Ashes Showmatch Czech talisman marv will set out to trip up the oldschool Belgians.

At a first glance this seems like a possible white wash, with Belgium awash with household names. But having already knocked out the famous Austrian duo of Darky & Potter, will mAx & shewie be the next on their list? Could the Czech's be this years Hungary?

idle Adacore laMent(i)s Prospect

ClanBase supervisor and general ET guru United Kingdom Adacore has tonight released the latest installment in his epic tale of this seasons' EuroCup. The coverage he confidently claims will never be topped, has so far lived up to the preamble.

In this chapter he takes a look at the prospects of last seasons finalists Estonia idle.ee and Europe aMenti - including interviews with idle talisman senji and aMenti clown.

QuoteTrying to list idle.ee's strengths is akin to trying to count the hairs on your head. There is no area of the game where they do not excel. Yes, some teams may have a few better aimers, but everyone in idle.ee's squad has great aim. Perhaps other teams have better tactics on some maps, but idle.ee tactics have always been both innovative and solid on all maps. You may be correct in saying that there are teams with better teamplay than idle.ee, but this doesn't take away from the fact that idle.ee's teamwork in game is almost flawless.

And somehow this has endured despite the numerous roster changes over the past fifteen months. As Senji says, "idle.ee have 6 of the best players in ET and our [biggest strength is] our teamplay, which we somehow have even though we had a lot of roster changes. Another important point is that we have a lot of fun together which keeps up the motivation to play together." Perhaps it is this last point that really makes idle.ee so special. Not only do they have all the factors required of a high level team finely tuned, but they have managed to maintain the motivation for almost a year of consecutive 6v6 victories, something that no other team has ever achieved.

Hop over to the articles section and read the next installment of "The Playoffs Are Here" named idle.ee & aMenti.

GameArena Grand Final !

Turn on your alarm clock, grab a bowl of Corn Flakes and skip the Hollyoaks omnibus - today is the GameArena Season 8 Grand Final !

Can Adversus follow up their minor premiership and become the first team to take back-to-back GA ET titles. Will Modus Operandi take revenge after their season 7 falter, and show us why they've been a stalwart of ET over the years? We'll find out this Sunday!

In the GA ET grand final, both teams nominate a map of their choice. The first team to take two rounds on a map wins the map, and teams must win two maps to take the title. If both teams take a map each, the match will move on to the tie-breaker map. Adversus have nominated SW Goldrush TE, while Modus Operandi have chosen Supply Depot. The tie-breaker map is Beach.

Gamestah's Ej & BoB will be calling their eighth consecutive GA final, and there will be hundred of ETTV slots available in order to watch the action.

Crunch Match In Group C

In what is a second clinical match in as many weeks for the joint PGA winners Fear Factory they must tonight take at least one map off reigning champions idle.ee to precede to the knockout stages.

The Polski's can thank their lucky stars that last night sFx murso took a somewhat unexpected 4 2 victory over incomplete! leaving Group D completely open. Though this is a somewhat daunting task, with Fear Factory unable to take a map in their previous three encounters with idle.

In the GameArena league, the 8 highest teams at the end of the regulation season play through brackets to reach the Grand Final. Like the regular season, GameArena finals matches are played best of 5 (first to 3) on a single map - today being Braundorf_b4.

The winner will meet Aussie legends Australia Modus Operandi in the Grand Final who took a 3 map victory over dEviance in the other semi final earlier this week - a match report can be found here.

HomeNations Enters Second Week

image: general The Gamersnation HomeNations Cup is entering its second week. For those that don't know, the HomeNations is an ET version of the ruby union annual competition the 6 nations (originally known as the HomeNations, when it consisted of only England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales). This is the first event of its kind, allowing players not selected for the United Kingdom NC team to strut their stuff on ETTV.

Though the names may not be, the games have been anything but uninteresting. The opening match, known as the Calcutta Cup between England and Scotland ended with England receiving a forfeit loss and one English player being disqualified - nearly leading to the team withdrawing from the competition in protest. Since then things have calmed down and England took a close win in their second match against a strong Irish team last Thursday, followed by a victory over Wales last night. Leaving them top of the group and qualified for the final, having played all their matches.

Currently, Scotland are the only team that can still achieve a Grand Slam, having won their only match. Tonight they play Wales in a rescheduled clash which they enter as clear favourites. Though this will be no walkover due to Wales fighting to avoid the wooden spoon.

The final and most likely determining match will take place on an unscheduled day this week - the winner earning themselves a place in the final to face England. Though Scotland are favourites to achieve this, Ireland are not to be underestimated. They recently took an impressive win over Slovenia in the NationsCup and are arguably the most active of the four. Keep watching Gamestv.org for match details.
