MW2 Petition "Won't be ignored"

image: v2tgddOnly two days ago a petition hit the net to have Infinity Ward reconsider their decision on no dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2 and has already reached over 100,000 signatures. Infinity Ward has now responded, promising fans that their outcry "won't be ignored".

The petition states this:

"Get Infinity Ward to review their decision not to allow fully dedicated servers for their forthcoming game release CoD:MW2. Remember that this Call of Duty was made popular by PC Gamers who have supported the series throughout."

Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist of Infinity Ward via Twitter:

"[It] definitely made a big wave, and the response will not be ignored. I'll ensure everyone at IW sees the petitions and responses to it."

Modern Warfare 2 "caters to the hardcore gamer"

image: 14weibtDuring the last couple of weeks the closed beta of Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) has been presented to the press at various events during Infinity Ward's trip through Europe. Detailed previews are popping up like mushrooms at numerous gaming sites, talking about their own little private time with the new game.

On the last event this Tuesday, Infinity Ward revealed that this beta was just the "tip of the iceberg" in terms of multiplayer content.

Speaking in London today, community man Robert Bowling said there's "a lot more" to be revealed in terms of unlockables for the sequel.

Raf1 talks Promod for MW2

image: 2gub9fpIn the latest issue of DuRuS' blog on Cadred, Ryan "raf1" Palmer elaborated on his plans concerning promod for the upcoming CoD4 successor Modern Warfare 2.

Raf1 points out that he won't be releasing his mod before it is properly beta tested by a select few among the top players of CoD4. Igniting a mod-race will only be harmful for the community and could tear the scene apart.

Also, raf1's intentions aren't to make a copy of another game, but only change superficial things without modifying the new elements that make MW2 unique. His reason for this decision is that the CoD community doesn't hold on to a game for very long and therefore would get bored with a CoD4 copy.

He will also keep the media features already in the current CoD4 promod, such as shoutcast overlay, and add some more on top of it.

This sounds very promising, but somehow I don't think we will be seeing a CoDTV soon.

New Modern Warfare 2 Trailer is Live

Infinity Ward released their new Modern Warfare 2 trailer called "Infamy".
It reveals quite a lot about the single player story, including a battle to reclaim Washington D.C. after an apocalypse. This surely has to ring a bell for people who played Fallout 3!

No Modern Warfare 2 demo

Infinity Ward announced that there will not be a demo of Modern Warfare 2, the highly anticipated successor of Call of Duty 4.

image: 2hxrfm

Earlier Robert Bowling already stated that it's unlikely that an open multiplayer beta would be released either.
The reason for these decisions is the time Infinity Ward would have to invest into developing and managing such a pre-launch event, they would rather spend it developing the actual game.
For Call of Duty 4 Infinity Ward did release a demo and a public beta. Of course there is still a chance that they will release a demo post-launch.

Looks like we'll have to wait until the 10th of November!
