Brinkkit released

image: header

Brink received a pretty decent hype on Reddit and the community over there just released it's first official version of their own official config tool named Brinkkit.

It allows you to easily access different values on vars that have already been tested successfully. It gives you more options than the Rushed's tool especially regarding your system's performance.

Requirements:
  • Windows XP or 7 with .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
Features:
  • Actual working cvars. I didn't add cvars that don't work or aren't supported by Brink. I took time to research each cvar, verify the function and test the performance. There are other tools out right now but I was annoyed by data entry and wanted a fun project to give back to the community.
  • Auto-updating. If a new version gets dropped, you'll know when you start the application. You don't need to come back here and re-download the setup.exe ever again. One and done, gents.
  • Hosted on Amazon so it should always be available and fast. I'll accept Reddit server jokes here.
  • Fluid and efficient design. Tab order makes sense. Use keyboard shortcuts to save (ALT+S) test (ALT+T), or exit (ALT+E). Yes, that is right, you can launch the game right from the app and it'll save your settings before hand.
  • Fast updating for hardly any effort. See a bug? Message me. I can probably fix & deploy the update within minutes. This game doesn't wait.

Pro Gamers to play for free on Steam?

image: 5d04llAn interesting idea has passed through the lips of Valve's top dog Gabe Newell suggesting that popular gamers (he obviously was referring to Krosan) should be allowed onto games on the Steam platform for free. He states that current payment methods such as purchase, pay per play and in game micro transactions are inherently flawed!

OVERLOAd win E-Series!

It's been a long day for a lot of us, but not as long a day as it's been for United Kingdom Power Gaming and Netherlands OVERLOAd. After a lot of initially-worrying delays, we have pulled through at the first edition of ET E-Series by Kaos TV. Your champions, ladies and gentlemen, are Netherlands OVERLOAd - a team who had everybody talking about whether or not they would actually go once they had signed up. For those who doubted them, let this be a lesson.

E-Series LAN

image: e-series_smallerThe time has now finally arrived for the first ever Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory E-Series LAN event to take place. After a few bumps along the road in preperation, we are finally ready to go live at the Kaos Gaming Centre in Weesp, The Netherlands. Unfortunately, there will be no stream for the event due to the cost of Owzo's flight rocketing up by the time the last team confirmed their attendance.

UPDATE3:
Through the wonders of Hamachi, we've managed to get around the port issues with the network and will be able to start bringing you ETTV, just in time for the last group match and the playoffs! Thanks to Marcus from YCN for suggesting the idea and to h3ll from GamesTV.org for setting it up.

UPDATE 2:
Sadly there has been further issues with servers and the games will now continue to be played in offline mode meaning no ETTV for the moment.

UPDATE!!
As it was only one team complaining about having to play online, Jere has decided to take the majority vote and force all matches to be played online for the benefit of ETTV! The first match is about to go live!
