SK win Intel Extreme Masters, Chengdu

image: IEM_09_logo_bigTwo weeks before the Event, Sweden SK decided to change 2 players. Nobody expected them to win, but they have proven the world wrong.

Today, 07:30 CET, SK|1.6 played fnatic in the Grand Final of the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge, China Chengdu. A match of amazingly high tense and great frags ended 2-0 in favor of SK.Gaming. Eventhough the score is 2-0, it was exciting till the end, it was one of the closest Grand Finals in history. After winning de_nuke 21-18 in Overtime, what shows how close the match was, SK could pull things up on de_train. This map also went into overtime, but SK managed to win it 21-16. Until the last moment it could have gone either way and this final will be remembered as one of the best ever. fnatic's star player Sweden f0rest tried to pull things up for fnatic as good as possible, but SK has just been too strong this week. On SK's side we have to mention Sweden walle who played amazingly this week. All in all, SK is going home with 15,000 $ and the Intel Extreme Masters Season 4 title.

Final Standings

Sweden SK Gaming ($15,000)
Sweden fnatic.MSI ($7,500)
Korea, Republic of WeMadeFox ($5,000)
4th: China TyLoo ($2,500)
5-8: Germany mouz($1,500)
5-8: United States of America Evil Geniuses($1,500)
5-8: Indonesia fTitaNs($1,500)

Alienware CoD Tournament

With the release of their new M15X gaming laptop Alienware decided to pull out all the stops and has put £1,000 up for grabs in a Call of Duty 4 and Counter-Strike Source competition to be run on Esports Heaven. Each tournament will run over the course of one week and the winner will walk away with £500.

The tournament will allow a massive 128 teams to enter and will feature the new Esports Heaven league system. This means that we will start off with a group stage of 128 teams where 32 teams advance to a double elimination system.

Besides the announcement of the new league system and the Alienware invasion tournament Esports Heaven also announced a cool new feature which will allow match predictions. It will be used for the first time during the Alienware Invasion but more information on this will be released later.

GGL sued by Game Hosting

image: ggl_logoSwedish based Game Server provider Game-Hosting have recently completed the formalities on the first stage of taking GGL through court to procure some $40,000 owed to the company in unpaid bills. Game Hosting are owed the money following their hosting agreement with GGL that saw the company hosting the Clanbase.com website between January 06 and April 2008. GGL successfully paid the earlier months of hosting, however stopped paying and by April 08 owed approximately $30,000 and the hosting was terminated.

When Clanbase was moved onto Game Hosting's servers it was a welcome increase in performance for Clanbase users who had been experiencing large load times prior to the move. However unpaid bills are a problem that have plagued the GGL organisation for years with several other eSports organisations listing GGL owing money to a variety of teams. Such allegations are still levelled at the company today with amongst others Clanbase Eurocup CoD prizemoney still remaining unpaid according to players.

Eirik Pedersen, Sales Manager, of Game Hosting gave Crossfire this exclusive statement regarding the legal proceedings that had taken place:

Quote by Eirik PedersenWe have finished legal proceedings against GGL and we won. GGL lost in Swedish courts and GGL is judged to pay us what they owe. Since GGL is a US company the Swedish ruling must now be transferred to US courts and enforced there. GGL has owed us money for over 1 year now and counting. We have several times tried to resolve this before taking it to court but GGL didn’t even reply to our emails, letters or phone calls. Even when presented with court proceedings they chose not to reply/appear. GGL has turned out to be an extremely un-professional organization and we have to warn all other companies out there to not do business with this company. For the record I have to say that Mads has been very professional but he is not the person calling the shots so he could not do anything but forwarding everything to the US office.

I have also talked to other parties that GGL owes money and they would like to take their claim to court but unfortunately they do not have the resources to take their claim to court. It sometimes looks like GGL is planing on not paying out money since they know they most likely do not get sued. However there is good news for those parties, in US you can get affordable help in suing such companies as GGL as long as the claim is not to high. If other parties are interested in taking their claim to court, contact me and I will try and help. There may be a way that you can get the money you have rightfully earned.

Crossfire attempted to contact GGL to obtain a retort to Eiriks statement, however they declined to comment.

We will keep you updated as the legal proceedings continue.

EC Qualifiers vol.2

image: 837

After we've been messaged with information that Europe randomers are walking away of the EuroCup due to internal problems, one spot in groupstage needs to be filled in. There are 4 clans left who are able to take that spot. So, they will fight for that in a small tournament!

Croatia Cortana, Finland TurboApinat, Belgium system6 and Hungary _underscore have lost their 2 games in EuroCup Qualifiers. Now, they have another chance to get into the groupstage. They will play a small Qualifier Tournament.Clans will play against each other, on 1-mapper war. Ties are allowed in this case. The best clan overall will proceed to the groupstage. If 2 clans have the same amount of game won, the score from match between them will decide who will be ranked higher. In case there was a tie, one more 1-mapper match will be played if it is going to decide about 1st place.

Kreaturen vs Mamut.si

Two big names go head to head in the ET Steelseries Summer cup tonight organised by eSports Heaven. Dutch powerhouse Kreaturen take on CC6 champions Mamut.si in a the Semi Final of the tournament which may have slipped a touch under the radar in recent times, but should still have mouths watering at the prospect of such a big game!

Netherlands Kreaturen 0-4 Slovenia Mamut
Time: 22:00 CET
Maps: Latvia dunno
ETTV: GamesTV.org

Finland Squall gave Crossfire the following statement:

QuoteI cant wait for tonights match and getting back to top level ET action with Mamut, we're always going to be a match for anyone with our lineup and I intend to show teKoa what hes missing by leaving idle all those years ago! Mark my words, tonights match will be one to remember!

Also taking stage tonight is the Eurocup Qualifiers Loserbracket match between Belgium Bpbeh and Croatia Cortana. Two teams who are no stranger to the Eurocup are nestled in the loser bracket with the reality that one of them wont be making it into this season. The belgians there courtesy of their favourite opposition, Polands Blurred Vision and Cortana there after going down 4:0 to European Elite on Sunday.

Croatia frozz kept his prematch statement short and sweet...."aCozZ is back!"

Whilst Belgium vila was also a man of few, yet always controversial words: "if we won't win this, i am eating my hat"

That match takes place at the same time as the Mamut vs Kreaturen match, with all the ETTV goodness over here.

Update Belgium 5:3 Croatia Cortana - It was the longest match ever

No Modern Warfare 2 demo

Infinity Ward announced that there will not be a demo of Modern Warfare 2, the highly anticipated successor of Call of Duty 4.

image: 2hxrfm

Earlier Robert Bowling already stated that it's unlikely that an open multiplayer beta would be released either.
The reason for these decisions is the time Infinity Ward would have to invest into developing and managing such a pre-launch event, they would rather spend it developing the actual game.
For Call of Duty 4 Infinity Ward did release a demo and a public beta. Of course there is still a chance that they will release a demo post-launch.

Looks like we'll have to wait until the 10th of November!

Eurocup Sunday Wrap up!

A cracking night of ET Action for all as the Clanbase Eurocup ET Qualifiers took center stage this evening. A number of top names in action, and an epic match played out for the masses in the shape of asd vs sub which is where the wrap up focuses (as thats the match I saw!).

United Kingdom sublime 2:4 Europe asd

A strong Supply defence saw sublime race into a one map lead with hYpe setting out a good case for his 'UK's #1 field ops' claim top fragging and damaging throughout the map. A combination of problems for asd meant they didnt get the first stage for 6 minutes and after that the map was a foregone conclusion, despite several exciting points along the way. However, it was the Goldrush first stage of asd that set the tone for an asd comeback, holding the tank for 4 minutes and getting the tank barrier up. They were able to successfully keep the sublime side at bay for about 11 minutes and that opened the door for a lengthy attack, which in truth they needed the comfort of as their first stage offence was a touch impotent.
Once past the first stage they were on cruise control and got the objectives away after a mad scramble at the back MG corner with Baggiez racing away with the documents towards the truck. Who should pop up from the command post but hYpe and the rivalry was to come under the spot light as unchallenged hYpe let rip with the sten onto Baggiez only to completely miss and Baggiez (not knowing where hYpe was) kept running and put the objectives home! (THis being the reason for most of the journals this evening!)
Radar started more to the liking of sublime however as asd's first stage attack was disjointed and combined with 2 or 3 defuses on the front gate it really didnt look good for them. They finally completed the first stage with 6 minutes played, it took them only half of that time to complete the second as they recovered well to set a little over 9 minutes to beat, a time that favoured sublime. Sublime took 3 and a bit minutes to take the first stage and had, just like asd, 6 minutes to complete the second stage however with some last ditch defending it was asd who came out on top and held on to win the map, and the match. All round, a cracking evenings entertainment!

United Kingdom Baggiez had the following to say on both the match and his rivalry with hYpe:

Quote by About the matchI think most teams would have lost in our position after our performance on supply, really proud of how we played on swgr & radar, it showed a lot of character. Hopefully this will shut Kamz up for a while. Just happy we could put on an exciting game for everyone who tuned in to watch & listen, and a big thank-you to everyone who offered their support before and after the match.

Quote by About the UK's #1 fieldops crown - "Evidentally I am...and UKs best covert by default"

The other results from tonights action (Sorry I cant give you a match report as I didnt see them!)

Europe TAG 4:0 Belgium system6
Europe EC Winners 4:0 Finland zero Empathy
Costa Rica Cortana 0:4 Europe European Elite
Europe glitz 4:0 Poland invitium
Hungary underscore 2:4 Europe zZz

You can see the replays for all of those over on GamesTV.org and the results are of course all from Clanbase

Battle of the best UK fops!

Europe Sublime vs Europe asd

The match which brought United Kingdom TosspoT himself out of inactivity due to the long term rivalry between the leaders of both teams, United Kingdom Hype and United Kingdom Baggiez. Both players have a mutual disliking for one another and want to prove who is the better player. Aswell as this, both want their teams competing in the Eurocup, the grandest stage of them all.

This is what both teams had to say (source: taggers.eu):

Quote by hYpeI think that if we play at our best that we can take the match. At the moment, we're very inconsistent so I think the result of the match relies mostly on us rather than asd. However, I could be wrong and asd could surprise us. asd have good individual players but I don't know how they work as a team. Any prediction I make on them would be misleading to anybody I guess.

Quote by errolWe dont know much about sublime. We have no clue about their performance these days because we have never played against them. I think we have a big chance to beat them since we are playing better and better every day. In my opinion it will be a tight match. I bet we will win 4:2.
