It's more than you think

If you enjoy reading an opinion on a positive thing about ET and its community you might want to go ahead, otherwise you can go with the troll most likely.

Reading crossfire columns lately might let you think ET is still what it was ages ago: Some call it dead (in comments), some come up with new concepts about maps ruined only by high skilled and highly accepted ET players like Night or share their opinion on one of the many issues there are and always have been: The admins.

How do you react to reactor?

What do you really want for ET?

Here I’d like to tell you what I think about the reasons why our beloved ET game is dying.
One more column about that? Yes, it is true, but not entirely. Some may say 5o5 killed ET. Some may tell me: stop talking and act. Some may say again: we already know why ET is dying.
However, there is a point that has been –voluntarily or not, this is not the question- eluded. You can disagree with me but a column entitles anyone, as far as I know, to express his own opinion.

Being an Admin

What makes a good admin and what defines an admin?

These are questions that I will try to find an answer to within this column. I would like to strengthen the fact that this column will include a lot of my personal opinions and views.

Serious Awesome Gambling Experience

You really can’t separate money and poker. If you’ve never played the game you might think it’s all about luck. It’s not. Of course luck is involved. But so is skill. That’s why there are professional poker players. There are people out there who make a profit year on year and have done for twenty, thirty, forty years or more. They do it by being good. Regularly.

Brink - deja vu?

Brink, like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Wolfenstein, has been awaited by a large part of the competitive ET community as a possible sequel to their favourite game. As of its release, May 10th 2011, it's been pretty clear the game has problems for competitive play: ATI cards have horrible problems (and so do certain nVidia cards), the game has a very low skill ceiling and is geared towards pub play.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Reading a recent journal on Crossfire I was delighted to see that sweRTCW s vibrant demo and movie catalogue was still in action. Browsing through the various demos I was thrilled to see an old classic that I used to love watch, one of the demos that got me into Enemy Territory - the inaugural Atlantic Battle.

Here comes Brink

Brink is just over 3 weeks away, with a shipping date of 13th of May for some the game cannot come soon enough for others the 13th of May 2011 will be just like last years 13th of May...uneventful.

eSports – Gaming for life or gaming takes your life?

Video games have been played competitively since their birth. American organization, Twin Galaxies, tracks video game world records since 1983 and it also has a program of gaming promotions. In the early PC-era the first game to introduce us to multi-player death matches was nothing else than Doom, of course. The multiplayer-scene around Doom grew rapidly and first newsgroups, chat rooms and IRC-channels dedicated for gaming were born.

U mad?

Since the beginning of time communities have been plagued by the difficulty of deciding for their own future. Usually the generally best option prevails over the inferior ones, but exceptions happen, and are in fact alarmingly common. Crossfire, or the ET-scene in general, is no different.
