7 million answered the call!

At the back end of 2007 a flurry of games were released with huge expectations and reputations, some fulfilled and some failed their hype regardless though gamers were out spending money in droves. However the last big title to be released, was able to pull off a John Cena like performance with just 2 months to play catch up in the 2007 and sell 7 million units.

The BBC states:

QuoteFirst-person-shooter Call of Duty 4 was last year's biggest selling game, according to sales figures.

It has sold more than seven million units since its launch in November, says its publisher Activision. The claim is based on sales figures from research firms The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group. The game was just one of a raft of high profile releases in 2007 including the third instalment of the Halo series for the Xbox 360.

Halo 3 earned more than £84m ($170m) in sales in its first 24 hours on release, according to Microsoft. The game sets the record for the most money earned in a day by an entertainment product, topping figures set by film Spiderman 3.

Royal Mess

The 4kings Call of Duty nightmare has continued today after yet another massive split in the ranks. What should be one of the flagship teams in the game and for the game has once again found itself split due to personal problems. The reasons and the results are currently pointing to a massive internal argument forcing players out, and we can confirm who has left the team:

United Kingdom Palmz
United Kingdom Pain
United Kingdom Skipz

That leaves the roster with Corp, ben and rco

Corp has given Crossfire this statement:

QuoteThe roster is again going to undergo a facelift. I'm sad to see Lee go as I liked him as a person and a player but Im happy to see the back of palmz. When we started this team he was a completely different player + person than he is now, so this team can only move forward now without him. Im confident you will be seeing us at cdc

And manager GeepaK has followed up with the following quote also;

QuoteWe have been made aware of some internal issues within the 4Kings Call of Duty 4 squad. We understand that the lineup did possess a large number of characters which inevitably conflicted. The conclusion is that we will be addressing the issues head on to decided the way forward

This troubled roster has again come under the spotlight again for all the wrong reasons, whether Corp can steady the ship is about to be seen however the managements patience has to have been tested with numerous top teams recently having been available, the opportunities missed by supporting a very troubled teams may cost 4kings their chance at success in Enschede.

CoDQCUP result rollercaster

The allstar cast that has taken to the field for the CoDQCUP have done battle in thrilling circumstances and with that have produced a field of upsets as the European CoD sides start to settle into some form of an order, or at least we thought so.

CrossfireQCUP winners and the newest members of the G7, Fnatic.CoD went down in a blaze of glory to german outfit The6Devils and in some style also, a 13-5 scoreline was to be the swedes undoing, their first defeat in CoD4. In another top clash, CoD2 titans TeK-9 and Serious Gaming went at it with WSVG champs TeK-9 taking the win, 13-10.

The other quarter finals that are to be played in the winners bracket see Dignitas take on Portuguese stars MYteam and XciteUK take on neophyte. There is of course a loser bracket which courtesy of a fully loaded tournament has some huge names in it waiting for their chance, DIE & Oxmoze two of the form sides down there.

All in all a great CoDQCUP is coming to the business end of the tournament and theres alot of fun still to be had! You can find the whole bracket HERE.

As usual the CDC Payment list is somewhat 'not full' which is allowing for some additional places to be made available in other tournaments. This events award goes to Bathing Ape for the name, and zerender for his message "Drugs and Weapons LOL".

If you are a team wanting to replace another team, now would be a good time to email tosspot at gmail dot com.

Packard Bell iPOWER picks CoD4

The Packard Bell iPOWER games are back for a second year and this time around they've changed their game choices and have picked up CoD4. To quote Multiplay, The iPower Games are a unique and exciting global competition that does away with the people who are simply l33t at one game, and aims to find the best overall teams at First-Person Shooter and Real Time Strategy games."

The first iPOWER 08 qualifier will be at Multiplays i33 you can find out more along with the information that accompanies what is a very unique tournament Here. Last years iPOWER tournament was a huge success with massive media exposure, one can only hope for a similar outcome again this year. The full games list is CoD4, UT3, World in Conflict and Supreme Commander.

CDC Payment deadline passes

The CDC payment deadline has passed but not to worry, if you're worried that your payment hasnt been received then you can mail a screenshot receipt to tosspot at gmail dot com, on Tuesday night the list of payments will be made public. The logistical delay of bank transferring means we're willing understanding of problems.

If you've queries or have screwed up, mail tosspot at gmail dot com - you do not need to message admins several hundred times during the day.

CDC ET Places galore!

We've had two dropouts in the ET tournament so the time is approaching for teams wishing to requalify for CDC4 must send in their emails by Sunday and be available to play a tournament on Wednesday & Thursday of next week.

Drop outs:

Poland Authentic - No reason supplied
Europe Unique - Lost their spot cause they wanted to change 4 players, were forced to requalify with new lineup.

np for aMenti

image: npbanner
aMenti the team that became The Last Resort and won CPC2 and CDC3 have moved on their lives. Earlier this week the side left H2k.QW and announced that they'd no longer be playing Quakewars, but would be sticking together popping up in the CDC4 CoD qualifiers, whilst also being in the ET tournament aswell playing under the name New Project.

Not really very new, the brand has a long RTCW history with various Spanish squads under their belt in the past, whilst none of them truly reached the games pinnacle this writer remembers the name fondly. The sides intentions were to play both CoD and ET at CDC, time will tell whether they weight their priorities differently after being knocked out of the CoD tournament.

Anyway the New Project ET & CoD squad is now as follows;

Spain Winghaven
Belgium mAus
Belgium dAv1d
Latvia Clown
Croatia aCoZz.
Germany wEAK

You can find out more on their website Team-NP.com / #team-np

Runoff Qualifiers

Theres been a great of interest from ET teams regarding any remaining CDC spots that may be available and to grant your wishes one may soon be on the market! Yes thats right, Kojak's situation has been sent into disarray after manager Equilbirium's contracts proved to all be fake and he turned out to be a little shit. Their CoD squad has already left and are hunting for another Multi Gaming Organisation and now without the support they were promised the ET teams attendance to CDC is in jeopardy (though not canceled yet).

To improve on previous years offering and in preparation for this and any other drop out, we'd like to invite those teams who still want to attend but lost their qualifiers to reapply (to crossfiresignups at gmail.com) for a third qualifying round (this replacing the unpopular first come first serve ruling). This will most likely be limited to those who lost the second qualifying round but we'll see what happens there at the time. Teams who threatened death to the admins, but then said sorry are not welcome to sign back up.

CoD4 Invites & Qualifiers *UPDATED*

Somewhat later than initially hoped, here are the CoD4 invites and seeds. A combination of volume and lack of information has made this a very difficult task so we ask teams to be understanding when looking at our separation. We have Invited 30 Teams and split the Qualifiers into two, so 20 teams will play the first round and then play 10 new teams to decide the signups.

We took a mixture of top players to help with the decision, so much thanks to Mick, Trigger, Doekoe and mint for their assistance!
