Tis the season to be jolly and with that Crossfire are hosting two allstar competitions! First of all news regarding Europe vs Australia, that match has been postponed until the 7th of January upon the request of Australia. Secondly, it is that time of year again, European Allstar time again!

Once again the tournament will be run by Mrozu & TosspoT and once again we have split the continent up into four sections! You can see the continent in all its glory Here. People can submit their nominations for region captain to [email protected] or via iRC to either admin, that will then be put into an email vote and the winner will be charged with the task of selecting a team. Teams must play with 3 different nationalities and a maximum of two players per clan.

:: Tournament InfoThe tournament itself will be played in a round robin format right at the end of 2006. Matches will take place on the 29th & 30th of December at 18:30, 20:00 & 21:30 CET. Each european region will play eachother once and the winner is the region with the best record at the end of the matches.

shgOpen 2007 is a reality! This year the event has moved to Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. Bella Center is located only a few minutes travel to metro station, international airport and the freeway. This year the event will feature a wider selection of exhibition booths, gaming tournaments and other entertainment activities. Up to 2.000 gamers are expected to attend the event.

It all takes place from Friday the 16th to Sunday the 18th of February 2007. The complete prize sum will be 500.000 DKK (or aprox. 65.000 euro), guranteed by the company behind the event: shg.dk A/S.

Ticketprice: 325,- DKK (until 1. january, after this period 375) 1 Euro = 7.5 DKK

Crossfire can confirm that Wolfenstein ET and now also CoD2 will have a prized BYOC tournament at the sHgopen 2007 and to clarify, the tournament is not set out by qualifiers or by team size, any one team can attend they simply need register for the event. The greatest lan event on the planet has announced its 2007 unprecedently early! Not that the date itself is any earlier but Quakecon does appear to be geared up to blow our minds once again. Whether it was iNfensus versus cK in 2002, GMPO versus Affliction in 2003, Idle versus u5 in 2005 or Crossfire versus KiH in 2006, Quakecon has always warmed the hearts of mp40 bearing souls.

After a school shooting in Germany on the 20th of November, German Politicians are pointing the finger the direction of violent video games after it was discovered that the criminal played CounterStrike a "killer game". Germany currently has one of the strictest gaming laws in the world, with GIGA unable to show ET until after 23.00 CET, hense the scheduling for this seasons IPS.

Jörg Schönbohm, the interior minister of the eastern state of Brandenburg said:

Germany is one of the largest gaming nations, and a strong force in the professional gaming arena. Events such as cebit and games convention top even the biggest American Entertainment shows and any potential changes to law put an estimated 2 billion euro and 1.7 million gamers future at risk.

10th Annual QuakeCon Brought to Life by GAMEPLAY HD!

GAMEPLAY HD will also air two one-hour shows, focusing on the 10th annual QuakeCon 2006, North America’s largest LAN event. Thousands of Quake players from around the world converged on Dallas, Texas this August, and GAMEPLAY HD was there to document all the action! Presenting both the 2v2 and 1v1 tournaments, the first of the two episodes will also feature the frenzied combat of the 5v5 Enemy Territory tournament. GAMEPLAY HD brings viewers up close and personal to the stars of the tournament, including an all-girl team called ‘The Girlz of Destruction’ from Sweden; Stermy, Italy’s best player and rising star; Toxic, the hottest player in the world right now; Fatal1ty, the breakout star among gamers, and Av3K, a 15-year-old who can beat many of the world’s best players. Meet all the key players and personalities on Dec. 6th, when both episodes premiere back-to-back at 10:00pm and 11:00pm respectively.

The second Crossfire LAN that was scheduled for Febuary of 2007 has been postponed. It has been tentatively rescheduled until the weekend of the 14th of April 2007 The date is to be formally confirmed in the new year It's remaining in the same location in the Netherlands and will still be partnered with Wzzrd.

We cannot reveal a great deal of information for this postponement at this present time, as we are obliged to remain quiet about information that has been revealed to us by other tournament organisers. However we can say that the postponement is for a good reason, and that we have on good authority that the previous date of the Crossfire LAN clashed with another event that will be running both Enemy Territory and Call of Duty prized LAN tournaments.

Crossfire felt it important to work with them to make sure that we can maximise each events potential for our community rather than compete with them.

There will be more information released in the coming weeks.
