The site has been down for over a week, and the response has been phenominal. On iRC the messages have flooded in about the downtime of xfire and how much the community has missed it. The age old saying of you dont know what you've got until its gone, is as true today as it ever was.
I hope that a lesson has been learnt from it all. Xfire may not be perfect, and many admins on other sites throughout xfires history have loved to take a cheap shot at us. But you can stuff your insults where the sun dont shine, as you cannot replace Xfire no matter how hard you may try.

However let me be perfectly clear. Xfire will not die, Xfire will not fold, Xfire has taken on every competitor since it started and will continue to do so.
What I've learnt very quickly is that you can build the perfect site, but you cannot buy a community. It is the xfire community that makes this place special, for that we thank you and look forward to getting xfire back to normal!

ClanBase EC Supervisor lunachick yesterday made the shock announcement that team dFIANCE will be removed from EuroCup due to roster instability. Since April 12th dFIANCE have added a total of 17 new players to their roster, adding 6 within just two days. The German clan Oceans6 will take their place and face Singularity this Sunday in their qualifier.

After talking with dFIANCE the ET Crew has decided to replace them before their qualifier match was due to be played. This because their line-up has had too many changes over the past three days, changing 50% of it. They are a new team now, not the one we invited to qualify.

We've also found a clan to replace them to play the qualifier, it is Oceans6. They were the first follow-up in line, this because they are known as a stable clan.

It's still unclear whether dFIANCE will compete in this seasons OC.

After the recent announcement of the ClanBase Spring Season 2006, ClanBase has now announced the 13th incarnation of their prestigious EuroCups.

This thirteenth season of EuroCups will again feature LAN-Finals for some of the games. This time, there will be no Transatlantic Showdown and ClanBase will carry out the LAN-Finals on their own at a yet unknown location in Europe.

The prizemoney ClanBase can offer this time is $50.000 in total for both the games with LAN-Finals and those with Online-Finals.

In connection with this announcement, the signup period for OpenCups and EuroCups has been increased until Sunday, 16th of April. All Clans and Players that want to participate in the EuroCups or OpenCups can sign-up here. Please keep in mind, that the EuroCups are "invite-only" tournaments and there is no way to directly sign up for a EuroCup.

The lovely Milez has asked for peoples opinions on how Quakecon distributes its prize money, hes interested to see whether people agree with the logic that individuals should get more than teams, something most relevant to 6on6 gamers:

First of all, idle manager Galahad has put together his all Estonian lineup for the upcoming season! The man that single handedly masterminded the teams trip to Quakecon this summer, has pulled out another trump card with the return to activity of rifle nading supreme r3vers!

Perhaps no longer routed in estonian heritage anymore, however the team is apart of the idle organisation who after impressive performances from their CS division at the shGopen and with much hype surrounding the Quake 4 potential of former reload ET star mAx, the team are on the up and up! Could this be the safest place to be for an ET team right now ahead of any potential dream of Quakecon?

Never the less, Estonia challenges you to come get some or die trying, as they go out to maintain their status as ET's number 1 nation!

In a shocking turn of events the dignitas team have returned to Enemy Teritory! The side that are unbeaten in official competition under the name dignitas (they lost as rewind to Broken in CB). After attempts to continue their glory in both a number of games (CS:S) and in a number of rosters in ET the team has finally returned to their roots of ET and will be gunning for both EC and Quakecon titles this year!

The American RTCW scene is being kick started back to life by former Atlantic Battle star and Quakecon Finalist Hollywood.

Doing the work of Jesus, Holly is slowly but surely converting people to his new religion which is based on regular worship to an RTCW server near you at least 3 times a day!

Driven by the glimmer of hope that Quakecon may well chose RTCW this year, and with the help of long term RTCW site Planet RTCW Holly states that his biggest obstacle so far has not been rejection, but the fact that CD Keys have been lost and people cannot actually get back into the game because of this!
