ET-Xreal Progress Update

A few weeks ago, id Software released the engine source code for ET & RtCW. Since then, several projects have been created in order to make ET a better game, such as iowolfet. One particular project that the Crossfire community should be excited about is ET-Xreal.

For those of you who don't know, ET-Xreal is an open source project that will port the Xreal render to the ET engine. The original Xreal project was a whole new game based on the Quake 3 engine. Since the release of ET's source code, the original project has been dropped.

Germany Tr3B, the man behind ET-Xreal and the original Xreal, has been working on porting the Xreal render to the ET engine over the past several weeks. Work has also continued on improving the render. Just yesterday, Tr3B posted an update on his website.

ET & RtCW Engine Source Code Released

id Software has finally released the source code for the Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory engine, along with the source code for the Return to Castle Wolfenstein SP and MP engine. During QuakeCon 2009, John Carmack stated id Software's plans to release the source code, shortly after being acquired by ZeniMax.

The news comes during SLAC's development, as well AxisRevenge's development, a community game based on the Wolfenstein multiplayer series.

Sunday: Rockit.ET vs SPEEDLINK

image: CB_EC_XXI

The pressure is on for the European mix and German team tonight. Both teams will be fighting for second place in Group C, where the winner can contiue to the final stages of the league. Has the time come for a brand new team with the rewarding teamplay that can potentially dominate the scene?

GermanySPEEDLINK
Rumour has it SPEEDLINK is the new and upcoming underdogs in the ET scene - call them the next FiF or Masculine Mans if you will. Rumour also has it that the German team have been practicing at bootcamp - whether that's true or not we will soon find out; though, this shouldn't come as a shock to the community. SPEEDLINK recently made the Crossfire headlines with the announcement of the new aniti-cheat for ET created by chaplja on behalf of the German MGC. However, this is no amateur anti-cheat. The contracts have been exchanged between the pair and the scene is preparing for the final release that could potentially extend ET's life beyond expectations.

It is still unsure why ET has caught SPEEDLINK's eye. Perhaps our game has finally been recognised for its potential outside of the Crossfire community. If so, expect big things from the German ET team. The team are also preparing for the upcoming AEF LAN - rockit.ET certainly have a fight on their hands tonight.

Acsi-eSports Announce ET Team

The recent LAN announcement in Antwerp has managed to bring some hope to the Enemy Territory community. Previous teams who performed at the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 LAN have shown great interest for the event, but not so many new teams have formed since. Let this be the first of many - presenting Acsi-eSports. The European eSports team have decided to pick up a fresh Enemy Territory lineup, specifically for the event. Unlike previous Crossfire LANs, the Antwerp eSports Festival aims to take Enemy Territory into a more professional oriented direction, competing amongst games such as Counter Strike and Call of Duty.

The team consists of 3 Dutch players from the previous Netherlands pstarZ.dNan lineup: Ati_, spho and modus. Both Ati_ and modus performed at the Crossfire Intel Challenge for pstarZ.dNan and produced decent results for their team. The legendary teKoa from the dominating Estonia idle.ee lineup has also been added to the roster, where his experience in such an unstoppable team will prove useful for Acsi-eSports' LAN performance. And last but not least, the controversial Belgian player Kevin will complete the team, bringing his skill and experience to the table from Belgium OVERLOAd's reigning days.

Tuesday: OVERLOAd vs rockit.ET

image: CB_EC_XXI

Tonight, the returning champions Belgium OVERLOAd hope to prove themselves once again by taking on the newly formed European mix team Europe rockit.ET in the ClanBase EuroCup XXI. Both teams have produced excellent results this season and are two of the few remaining teams with an active and stable lineup. On paper, tonight's game should be a rather close and exciting match, unlike the disappointing, one sided slaughtering in yesterday's CB NC Final. The match will be shoutcasted by no other than Mr United Kingdom TosspoT himself.

Grand Final - Finland vs Estonia

image: NC_EC_XIII

That's right, the ClanBase NationsCup XIII Grand Final has arrived. After months of drama and controversy, the best teams have pulled through once again for the Grand Final. ET's legendary shoutcaster United Kingdom TosspoT will also be making a return for Monday's match - undoubtedly to stir the drama for one last time!

Finland Finland
It shouldn't come as a shock to the Crossfire community that Team Finland have reached this season's NC Grand Final. They are more than a mix team - The Finnish players have been practicing together for several years and have achieved the best possible results online. Finland MASCULINE MANS have been crowned champions of the ClanBase EuroCup twice in a row. This Monday, Finland will unleash their most deadly players upon the Estonian lineup. The team have an impressive winning percentage of 100 this season, slaughtering every single opponent they have faced. However, that doesn't mean Estonia can be underestimated by the Finns. Can the all star Finnish lineup dominate, once again?

Tuesday: UK vs Estonia

Tonight - CB NC XIII Semi Finals - UK vs Estonia

Shoutcast by United Kingdom TosspoT
After months of epic performances from the participating National teams, the ClanBase NationsCup is finally coming to a near end. This Tuesday, the United Kingdom United Kingdom will face Estonia Estonia in the semi-final. ET's legendary shoutcaster United Kingdom TosspoT will be returning for the rare occasion. The winner will go on to face Finland Finland in the Grand Final. The final stages are not the final stages without a bit of Crossfire drama - and there's plenty of it! Continue reading for all the latest gossip and to find out who's backstabbed who.

United Kingdom United Kingdom
ET's "Most Hated" player, Kamz, was able to sneak behind enemy lines this season and finally land himself as the United Kingdom's team captain. After several attempts in previous seasons, the controversial player had a chance to transform his words into positive statistics - and he certainly has done so. Previous seasons saw the United Kingdom perform with unstable and unmotivated lineups. However, the tables have turned; the team have performed with a stable and motivated lineup throughout the current competition and have delivered the results to prove so. The return of the deadly combo razz and sqzz has proven beneficial for the team's matches. Furthermore, R0SS, sqzz and razz (from this season's lineup) are currently performing in the ClanBase EuropCup and EMS Qualifiers with United Kingdom Impact Gaming, who are also preparing for the upcoming Enemy Territory LANs in Belgium and Denmark. With such active lineup outside the ClanBase NationsCup, it's no wonder the team have reached the semi-final stages.

However, like all good things, they eventually come to an end - sometimes with devastating results. The recent backstab from razz towards Kamz's team United Kingdom colt 45 has resulted in hate and some unfinished business between the two United Kingdom players. Kamz has decided to hand over his captincy to R0SS for the remaining few matches this season. With razz refusing to play, Kamz quitting his team and TEKN0 away from activity, things have gone terribly pear shaped the United Kingdom team. It looks like that epic comeback has been thrown right outside the window! Can the United Kingdom cook something Jamie Oliver at the very last minute?

Wednesday: tMoe vs rockit.ET

image: CB_EC_XXI

Tonight's game is something rather special. It's become a rare treat to see two top teams battle it out against each other online. As the ClanBase EuroCup XXI comes to a near end, we can expect some close and intense matches, such as tonight's game - Europe rockit.ET vs Poland to Make odds even.
image: linebreak
Poland to Make odds even
The Polish team are one of the few top teams to continue performing online since the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. However, the Bronze chapmions have delivered mix results since the LAN. Just last week, they were completely thrashed by the Belgian team Belgium OVERLOAd. tMoe's defence wasn't even able to hold the first set of attacks by the Belgians on both Goldrush and Adlernest. Since the LAN, key player Poland numeric was replaced by Poland naga. Both players deliver their individual skills to the table, but a small change to a familiar and active lineup can punch a huge dent into the team's performance. However, since Poland Fear Factory X-Fi folded, tMoe have decided to go back to their roots. For the first time tonight, tMoe will be playing with their usual LAN lineup - the return of Poland numeric. Nevertheless, tMoe cannot afford to take another loss. The Antwerp eSports Festival cannot come sooner for tMoe to up their motivational gear.

Tuesday: Belgian Fraternity vs 1stCav eSports Club

image: esl_vi

Last night's ClanBase NationCup game was quite absurd, amusing match. Estonia took on Poland with a last minute mix team from the scraps on IRC, where the Pols performed with a rather familiar and comfy lineup - if only their performance was a pair. Estonia won all three maps, but yet they only won by 4-2. Why? The cheeky devils thought they could sneak a very naughty Swedish player (nordaN) into the lineup; under Killerboy's supervision! Crazy, I know. Needless to say, the team were penalised by the Maltese admin and automatically "lost" Goldrush, but yet went on to set an astonishing time of 1:03 on Adlernest and 5:33 on Supply. If an angry Polish team isn't bad enough, how about an angry Canadian team? A similar situation arose last year and resulted in a disqualifcation for Team Canada. However, team Estonia are able to continue in this season's ClanBase NationCup without disqualification. Nevertheless, the drama delivered a pretty damn entertaining match, witnessed by an impressive 427 spectators!

Monday: Poland vs Estonia

image: NC_EC_XIII

It's almost been two whole weeks since we've seen a match in the ClanBase NationsCup XIII league - and yes, there's still unfinished business to be served. The recent kick start to the ClanBase EuroCup XXI league has put this season's NationsCup on hold. However, the show must go on, with the best of the best being unleashed tonight and over the coming weeks.

image: linebreak

Poland's national team has had a rather unstable lineup this season. The return of the Polish combo wiesiek and Wrobel came to a swift end when the ET team Poland Fear Factory X-Fi recently folded after a few disappointing results. Nevertheless, the star pair have decided to hang around for the remaining few NationCup games and have been added to the rooster for tonight's match. Their inactivity could prove costly for tonight's game with a possible drop in their team's performance. Will the risk pay off or add another to their few losses?
