Live On Three #56 Post-QuakeCon w/ stermy & proZaC

Live On Three is hosted by United States of America Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham, United States of America Rod "Slasher" Breslau and United States of America Scott "SirScoots" Smith.

Live On Three #56 is now online featuring discussing regarding several aspects of this year's QuakeCon including Belarus Cypher and Russia Cooller's epic final, Sweden proZaC's banning, and the multitude of DNS, streaming, and coverage issues at the event. Special guests on the show include first-time top 3 QuakeCon finisher Italy Stermy, the infamous proZaC, and QuakeLive.tv's United States of America Ben "FishStix" Goldhaber.

Stermy's thoughts on Cooller gg'ing him with 3:30 left on Furious Heights:

QuoteWhat can I say? I mean..that's Cooller, ya know? it was probably 10 frags ahead with 3 minuted left, and I knew that the match was pretty much over, but I gusss he wanted to get into my head because I won the first map. I don't get scared of those things anymore. I played during the time when United Kingdom 2GD was playing, and I mean that guy's trash talk is definitely worse than Coollers even, so i have enough experience from that, I don't get annoyed anymore by it. Cooller is like that, gotta take it for what it's worth.

proZaC on getting booted from QuakeCon:

Quote...I'm playing my game which is awesome - I kept it sexy. I thought Canada sparks was a half-newb, and wanted to show the world you can play Quake without pressing +back, just keeping it fucking sexy, and i lost int he last 15 econds because i missed a rocket jump to red armor. If I got that rocket jump I would have won hands down. When I lose to sparks I'm steaming so I go to the pool - I'm out. Go to the pool, get my swim on, get my drink on, when my CTF team comes and says I have to come back and play

Listen to the show now on djWHEAT.blip.tv. QuakeCon talk starts at 5:00, FishStix on at 38:00, Stermy on at 46:00, proZaC on at 100:00.

RtCW NC Game Week 2

image: flags

We have reached the second round of group games and there are three games up tonight where some teams need points to have a good chance to stay in the cup. Here are the games played and predictions from Team UK captain United Kingdom dusty:

image: game20616First up and the featured cam game tonight is Germany Germany vs. Belgium Belgium - in a must win game for the Belgians to stand a good chance of going through to the playoffs, the pressure is on Belgium syL and team captain Belgium edge to pull their team through. Standing in their way though are Germany phate and the rest of the active German lineup - this should be a top game!

Quote by dustyThis German team is a well oiled tactical machine, but even they will struggle in trying to get those all important documents back off syL as he runs around each map seven times before transmitting. With all things considered, Belgium will win simply because Mouly rocks and they have the aim. Germany have the lotto though which will make it a fantastic spectacle, a real feast for the eyes.

United KingdomzeroE`razz: I'm hoping we can do well as a team, ET is a great game and we don't want the game to die. We plan on trying to stay together and getting good teamplay and compete against the top level clans in the ET scene at the moment.
United KingdomzeroE`Jinosta: Everyone has said that the team wouldn't last long to me but I believe it will and in our prac's numeric's mouse has been playing up but we still been winning so I believe we will go far and hope to go to either aef2 or cic8 but none the less let's just think about EC first :) and thx to zeroE for picking up us so early.
PolandzeroE`numeric: We are hoping our partnership with Zero Empathy to be long and full of successes. Thanks for taking us in!

United KingdomzeroE. Gunny: I'm very pleased that these players decided to join us and I hope they will proove themselves as a good addition in the following ESL/CB competitions. Good luck guys and also good luck to our COD4 team that will attend the i40 event!
United KingdomzeroE. IMag: I think that the Zero Empathy MGC is now stronger than ever with the last team that joined and I know for sure that they'll manage to win important matches against good teams, in the upcoming competitions. ET to be ported to XreaL Engine

Tr3b, head developer over at the XreaL Project, announced yesterday that he plans to port ET to his "XreaL Engine". One of the main advantages of the XreaL Engine is its renderer, based in id Tech 3, but massively improved - and able to compete with modern commercial game titles. Tr3b has already started working on the project, and says "I already diffed the vanilla Q3A renderer code with the ET one and there aren’t many changes. Most changed lines contain the new skeletal animation code and there is some new foliage and decal rendering code. It is not particular difficult to merge those changes into the XreaL renderer."

For years there have been calls on Crossfire for somebody to "just update the graphics and leave the gameplay alone", could this be the update so yearned for by the community?

Tr3b has also posted a YouTube video of "Parallel Split Shadow Maps" in the XreaL engine, leaving us to imagine an ET that looks as good as, if not better than what is in the video.
