Crossfire Community Awards 2011 - eSports Awards

image: 34o4tx1

The second category in this year's Crossfire Community Awards is "eSports". Our cosy community has reached a point where most of the userbase have ventured into other games next to Enemy Territory and with the new Crossfire 4.0 just around the corner, it's only logical to set our sights on the bigger scope of the world of eSports. The following awards are meant to define exactly what is hot in eSports right now accoring to the Crossfire community. The first of our eSports awards is probably the easiest one, the game that made the best impression on our community - bar ET of course. The event of the year gives credit to the best organized, most hyped or most important LAN of the year, spanning all games played competitively. Moment of the year is especially about those highlights that stuck with you, be it ragequits, impressive wins or news that shook the eSports world. To conclude we give praise to the best movie the eSports scene has put forward this year. It doesn't matter what game it is, the idea is to award the movie that has managed to thrill even gamers that never seen the game before.

Crossfire Community Awards 2011 - Crossfire Awards

The first category of the Crossfire Community Awards is called "Crossfire" and spans all activity that went on on your favourite website. First of all and most important is the person who has in your eyes contributed the most to our scene in 2011. We also take a look at the content created on Crossfire over the past year. Whilst the game might be lowered in activity, the content flow on Crossfire was nothing but. Furthermore the best journal of 2011 is elected which is going to be an impressive feat. From the more than 10,000 (yes you read that right) journals that were created this year, one will be known in Crossfire history as the best journal of 2011! We also acknowledge the biggest retard of 2011. Just like last year, the winner of this award will be rewarded with a one month ban.

image: 2cz3ghgTIME Magazine has begun publishing its 'Top 10 Everything of 2011' and of most interest to you, the readers of Crossfire, will be the 'Top 10 Video Games of 2011.' TIME has a habit of producing content for the mass public so it may surprise you that their games list is surprisingly well formed. It was written by Lev Grossman, who attended PAX this year and guest spoke on the topic of writing in video game media.

ONEMOVE 2 Perfection

At ONEMOVE.ESO we're very happy to announce yet another great step forward with the pickup of the well known Belgium Gaming2Perfection ET team. Due to the Belgian organization having to shut down, the team found themselves without support. Quickly after the drop, ONEMOVE realized this was a great team and offered them their help and support and a few debates later the pickup was arranged.

After some impressive results, finishing second in CB:EC XXIV and third in Battle for Berlin, Germany kReSti, Germany sTOWNAGE and United Kingdom griim decided to leave the team. Searching for replacements, we contacted United Kingdom rAzZ and Iceland phyZiC from the former United Kingdom Queens.et side. Both players responded interested and decided to join up and create a strong new lineup with Belgium chry, Belgium Jere and Germany Bl4d3. However, still left without a sixth player, the team spoke to several players and decided France kARnAJ was the one to fill the spot.
Now, ONEMOVE.ESO is proud to announce its new ET team:
  • Belgium chry
  • Belgium Jere
  • Germany Bl4d3
  • United Kingdom rAzZ
  • Iceland phyZiC
  • France kARnAJ

NationsCup XV - Enemy Territory

image: ncxv_medium

The NationsCup intends on bringing all of the best players across the world together to represent their nations at one Cup.

With an amazing EuroCup and OpenCup season behind us we are happy to announce the new season, which will undoubtedly be the most thrilling and action packed NationsCup to date.

* General

For this season, your supervisors will be Belgium GoldoraK and Poland szczurek. They will give their best efforts in order to make this NationsCup a great success!

* Sign Up

As always, we are in need of captains who will take up the responsability of leading their nation into battle. If you feel that you are the man for the job, then please check if you meet our requirements:
  • Decent organization. Every team should have one person who is responsible for ClanBase, he will function as a contact person, and CB will call him teamleader. It's up to the teams to decide who is doing what.
  • The point of this NationsCup is to determine which nation is the best, so it pretty much goes without saying that a team captain should have decent skill level.
  • A bit of team presentation is preferred. A logo is easy to make and looks much better on your teampage. So does a website where news, memberlists and other information can be found.

We will be using our semi-automatic captain election system. It consists of three stages:

Stage 1 - Captains apply

In this stage, players will be able to apply for the position of team captain for their respective nations. They can do this, by using the designated menublock on the right side of the cup page.

Please keep in mind that your application should be well motivated. All players will be able to see who applied for their own nation by using the menublock, mentioned above. This stage will run until Sunday, the 25th of December. No applications will be taken into consideration after this day.

Stage 2 - Players vote

Once all the applicants are known, players will be able to vote for their favourite candidate. There are few details to which we would like you to pay special attention. First of all, once you have voted, you cannot vote again or change your previous vote. Second, an applicant cannot vote for himself and third, when voting, you will be asked to motivate your vote. We would like to ask you to take this seriously.

All votes are kept anonymous. This stage will run from the 25th of December until the 3th of January. In the end, the cup supervisors will determine the captains.

Stage 3 - Annoucement of the captains

After the votes have been taken into consideration, the cup supervisors will announce all team captains on Thursday, the 5th of January.

If you have any questions concerning this system, please feel free to contact both supervisors in any way you see fit.

* Schedule

  • 11.12.2011 - 25.12.2011 : Step 1 Candidate Captains Apply
  • 25.12.2011 - 03.01.2011 : Step 2 Players Vote
  • 05.01.2012 : Step 3 Captains annoucement
  • 12.01.2012 : Qualifier week
  • 23.01.2012 : Start of the first match week

* Referees

Of course, any help we can get is more than welcome. Admins play a vital role in making a cup succeed, so if you can spare some of your own free time to help out, please don't hesitate and go to the admin signup page.

We do expect admins to be qualified in these areas:

  • Good knowledge of written English
  • Knowledge of the commands available

  • Able to stay neutral and to make fair decisions/judgments
  • Good knowledge of the rules
  • Ability to write match reports/upload screenshots
