These past couple days we’ve seen a few people come up with frank summations of the games future along with degrees of disgust at the way things are going. The war against cheaters within ET has been lost in many peoples opinion and that has caused many amongst the community to look for an alternative.

This is not the cry of an aging women who has just been replaced by a young blonde, but more the observation that the game which hasn’t moved from its position in the top five FPS games in four years could have been a big money earner for ID Software and SplashDamage.

Quakecon day 2 is now over and after quite a lot of action in the Quakewars tournament we’ve seen and learnt a great deal about the teams and the players. Most of this came from the 20ID versus Dignitas winner bracket semi match where the number two and three seeds collided but more importantly two different approaches to the game can to head.

As Quakecon approaches previewing its tournament is poised to be the hardest preview I've ever done. How do you preview a tournament for a game that isnt released yet and features just one European team against a community who personify the meaning of 'diamond in the rough'.

Quakecon returns to the big stage once again and in Dallas this weekend the temperature will reach new highs as Quakewars debuts alongside Quake. Last year it was the team game that gave the 'con its memories and it’s now time for ET's bigger brother to follow in its footsteps!

TeK-9 head to their own event as favourites for the tournament, but will have to be on their guard with many of Europes finest in attendance. The rollercoaster of form that both the side and European Call of Duty goes through on a regular basis offer a stern warning for any team gunning for glory in Antwerp this weekend.

6 minutes on Supply, 5:37 on Goldrush it takes something special to set those times no matter who you opponent is. When it’s the team that tossed you aside at CPC2 it’s just a little bit sweeter, are the Dignitas boys back in town?

For Dignitas, Speedlink and TeK-9 the greatest challenge of their playing careers has presented itself and if there was ever an occasion to rise to the challenge, it is now. This weekends WSVG will present the biggest event the game has ever featured at and for my money, the European teams all start as underdogs!
