Heaven Media Award Winners

image: ng8ww3

Throughout the past month the people of crossfire have decided upon the Heaven Media Award nominees and elected 10 winners across varying polls ranging from best Player and best Team of the Year, to Player you hope will Quit and Community Member of the Year.

There was quite a lot of controversy regarding the nominees, but even though some nominees might have been out of place, the ones that made a chance at the price did make it through. It's safe to say that all the winners are rightful winners.

These winners were chosen by you and represent the general opinion of the community. That's why the results of these awards are not merely Heaven Media awards, but awards given by the community to the best of us.

The Heaven Media Awards have been running on tek-9 and Cadred too simultaneously. Go check it out to see their results too!

YYT.CoD4 Lose Their Lukz

YoYoTech, the Brittish mgc announced their German CoD4 AK player, Lukas "Lukz" Berens has had to depart from the team for personal reasons.
Lukz requested to be released from his contract, so he could concentrate his time away from gaming over the next few months.

The team is rather new, and since they were just settling down for the next season ahead, this line up change could potentially endanger their chances at success.

The lineup is now the following:

England DeAtH-
Ireland BATZR
United Kingdom smithiE
United Kingdom Scorp

The team will still be in attendance in EPS season 3 and at CiC7 in March. The search for a replacement will begin in earnest in the next few days.

With the sign ups for Captain applications closed, the time has now come to throw in your votes and make sure your favorite man can be the captain of your nation and bring glory in his name! But there's more to it then just the blind voting.... With renewal of the Clanbase ET Crew, we also decided to go a step further and take an interview with every aspiring captain so it will be easier for you as a voter to make your decision. We hope that with the featured questions and answers to them you, as a voter, will be able to make the best decision for yourself and your country with your vote.

The overview of the interviews with the aspiring captains can be found on the Crossfire Article section Here

We also want to remind the aspiring captains that the rules regarding the '3 players from 1 clan' has changed, we advise you to read them thoroughly to stay up to date and get yourself the best line up as possible. You can find more info regarding this rule Here

Demo Decoder [Update]

After lots of coding and tons of GUI dev / code I think its time to give the lib a little stress test.
I assembled a small program which will index all demos in the Application's parent path!

Note: If you have lots of demos in the Folder, it can take quite some time to start the scanning, this is normal!
Update:
  • Files have been updated to give better output
  • The index Method has changed (should be much faster starting now)
  • 64 Bits version added (the old one wont load properly on the 64Bits system!)
it would be nice if you guys could test this again and give feedback

What is this tool and why should I use it?
  • Because the API needs to be tested against as many demos / mods as possible.
  • The API will be able to cut / write demos, or search for specific frags / messages / events / you name it...
  • It scans all demos in it's parent directory and stores all gathered information in a SQL Database.
  • The Database can then be used with the MediaManager, which is not released yet.
  • Supported in this test release: ET, QL, Q3, RTCW.

The - not so - Final Encounter

After an amazing and quite a long season we have almost reached the finish line. One last clash between Netherlands dNan & Belgium bF has to decide who will become the winner of the top of the notch OC division and who deserves to be called OCWinners.
image: opencup3

The current score between both participants is 2-2 which proves the equality of skill between both teams. If Belgium bF manages to beat dNan once, they are obliged to beat them twice if they want to go home with the golden pocal. This is the 5th and final encounter and it will most definitely be interesting to see another 6on6 game wirth viewing with the current 5on5 hype which is preparing the entire community for CiC7.Netherlands dNan , the experienced dutchies, will have to take on Belgium bF one last time . I believe this to be a thrilling match and very view-worthy. This grand final will be shoutcasted by no other than France Francis.

CIC7 Update

image: ciec

The Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 is now rapidly approaching, on this very date in March teams will have already descended upon Enschede for a feast of gaming action to rival any other! And with that it is time to update one or two points for you:

The Call of Duty 4 tournament is now fully activated with a fantastic volume of signups. Though the complete total payments is not quite verified due to the Christmas Bank Holidays here in the UK it would look like we're headed for a fantastic turnout for this tournament and should hopefully move past at least one triggered prize point! In the coming weeks we will announce details of the seeding tournament for CoD4 - it would be an injustice to seed the tournament without proper veficiation given the nature of transition the community has been through.

The Enemy Teritory tournament has been lagging behind in the signups for a while now and its time that everyone got off their backsides and into gear to signup for ET! Our 4 Crossfire Intel One Day cups were a huge success with around 40 teams signing up each week and with it a fresh breath of air across the ET community. It is now time to convert that interest into signups - so ET Teams please start signing up. With regards to the ET seeding tournament in cooperation with ESL, eiM did update the format of the tournament and we're very open to feedback on how you feel it best be delivered, so keep it coming!

Information on the Quake Live tournament will come next week, expect a nominal (low/small) entrance fee payable on location and it running around the schedule of the other two tournaments. We'll also be doing another poker tournament at the event too, so fear not poker fans!

Remember for all of those queries regarding accomodation they need to go directly to WZZRD as we dont handle accomodation reservations ourselves.

TLR Player DEKO Banned by CB

Dutch player Netherlands DEKO, from The Last Resort has been banned by ClanBase.

Yesterday evening DEKO was banned by ClanBase for cheating in an official match, a 12 month playing penalty was received as a result.

Whilst the Call of Duty 4 scene is constantly filled with accusations of cheaters, onliners and such, it is very rare that a player will actually be banned. Yet this is the fate that DEKO has received from ClanBase. DEKO as many will know rose into the LAN scene with a 2nd place finish with YoYoTech at i36 back in April 2009, and since performed at LAN79 and many others.

Crossfire Intel ESL Challenge *update*

image: ciec
As announced in an earlier newspost Crossfire and the ESL team up for Crossfire Intel ESL Challenge -- the official seeding tournament for Crossfire Intel Challenge 7.

The seedings that result from this competition will be used to create the poules and groups for the upcoming offline event. Every attending team that wishes to be seeded must play in this tournament.

In order to get the best possible seedings, and to give every team the chance to play as many matches as possible, a special tournament system will be used.

We will start with a Groupstage with 8 groups of 4-6 teams (depends upon signups).
ALL teams will then play a single elimination playoff stage as a 1 day cup. The date for the playoff cup will be announced once the signup numbers are known. Teams that finish 1st in their group will form one 8-slot playoff bracket, with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. placed teams similarly forming their own 8-slot playoff brackets. In the end there will be 4-6 of these 1 day cups at a time (again, depending on signups) with 3 rounds played per cup.

While this is the seeding tournament for Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 we still allow EVERY team to sign up. Teams already signed up for CIC7, though, have their spot guaranteed.
